Dean Wilson claims the top spot on podium!

The fifth round of Monster Energy Supercross was a cause for celebration at Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki as the team’s recent surge continued last Saturday in Anaheim, Calif., with a big win for Dean Wilson and another top-five finish for Justin Hill. No team in the 250SX Class West Region has been hotter than Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki the last two weeks, and both Wilson and Hill are continuing to make a big impact in the championship as the midseason break approaches. Wilson’s triumphant effort was the 21st victory for Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki in Anaheim, which solidified it as the most dominant team in history at legendary Angel Stadium. Hill Claims Third Straight Top Five With a career-best effort to build off of heading into Anaheim, Hill had intentions of challenging for the first win of his young career. He posted the third-fastest lap of practice and secured a top-five to transfer out of his heat race following a pair of crashes. Hill began the main event with an eighth-place start but started to work his way forward and slotted into fifth place by the third lap. He patiently closed in on fourth place and made the pass for the position on Lap 10. A late surge put a second straight podium within reach for Hill, but he ran out of time and finished fourth.

Vans Moto crew lands podium finishes!

Dean Wilson was the fastest 250SX Class rider in Oakland, posting the top practice time of the afternoon and taking a dominant heat race win to start the night show. A good start would be the key to Wilson’s success in the main event and after grabbing the holeshot, he positioned himself inside the top three from the get go. Wilson continued to push the pace of the lead pack and made a two-for-one pass to move from third to first on Lap 6. Once out front, Wilson pulled away and established a comfortable advantage only to momentarily lose power aboard his Kawasaki KX250F on the final lap and drop to second. Wilson quickly rebounded but just missed out on the top spot. Despite the heartbreak he experienced on the final lap, Wilson took positives from his dominant run and is confident he’ll be on top of the podium soon. Following his memorable climb from the back of the pack last week in Anaheim, Justin Hill confirmed that he has the speed and ability to be a contender in the talented West Region field. In Oakland, Hill kept the momentum going by posting the third-fastest lap in practice and a third-place finish in the heat race to set a promising tone for the main event. Hill narrowly missed securing the holeshot alongside his teammate, but took over the lead shortly thereafter to pace the field for the first time in his young career. The sophomore rider looked comfortable out front and fended off his rivals for the first six laps before settling into third. Hill’s first career podium and career-best finish were added confidence boosters for Hill, who now knows he can win and has emerged as a one of the sport’s most promising up-and-comers. “I’m so happy to finally get on the box, but I can’t help but think I let a win get away there,” said Hill. “I learned a lot by being up front and I was able to take away some valuable experience. My team has been working so hard and we’re hitting our groove now. I feel so great on the Kawasaki KX250F and I expect to be battling for a spot up here every week now.” Oakland 250 Results: 1st Jason Anderson 2nd Dean Wilson "VANS" 3rd Justin Hill "VANS"

anaheim 2 in the books

The third round of the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross season signified the championship’s return to Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. With a nostalgic atmosphere surrounding the 40th anniversary of the sport, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki endured a challenging day, but its riders fought through to the checkered flag to secure hard-earned results and obtain valuable points. Hill Digs Deep in Impressive Charge Through Field- Vans Moto Athlete Justin Hill has shown consistent improvement since the start of the 2014 season and on Saturday night he amassed arguably his most impressive performance to date in the face of tremendous odds. Following a strong start to the evening in which he followed his teammate Dean Wilson across the line in the heat race, Hill put himself in the lead pack at the holeshot only to dismount his motorcycle following contact with another motorcycle. Hill avoided additional incident and reentered the race in 19th following the conclusion of the opening lap. Despite having nearly the entire field in front of him, Hill put on a charge and ultimately passed 14 riders to post a fifth-place finish to lead the team. “That’s not usually how you want to get a good result like that but considering I started the race just trying not to get hit by everyone I have to say I’m pretty pumped right now,” said Hill. “I don’t think I would have told you this is where we’d end up after the start, but I was really feeling good on my Kawasaki and this track just suited my style. This might be the most excited I’ve been after a race in my career so far because I think I just showed I have the speed and stamina to challenge for the podium.” Dean Wilson has been one of the fastest riders in the 250SX Class West Region since the start of the 2014 season. In Anaheim, he posted the second-fastest lap in practice and kicked off the evening by leading a dominant 1-2 effort for Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki in his heat race. Wilson got a strong start in the main event and took over third place early on, setting a fast pace and pushing towards the lead. While making a charge on second, Wilson’s trajectory off a jump carried him into the tuff blocks. After narrowly avoiding getting hit by several riders, Wilson remounted in eighth and looked to fight back. He gained the ground he lost and engaged in a battle for sixth in the final lap, but ultimately finished seventh. “Obviously I’m not happy with that result,” said Wilson. “I drifted a little to the right as soon as I took off and just couldn’t do anything about it at that point. I was lucky it wasn’t any worse and I was able to get back out there and get some points back. We should be battling for wins and I think it’s obvious the speed is there. I just need to put it all together in the main event.”

Tyla Rattray talks about his top spots he's raced and traveled to!

Few racers have the amount of miles logged as Tyla Rattray. The ICE1 Racing MX1 rider started his career in his home country of South Africa, moved to Europe at a young age and contested the Grand Prix circuit for a number of years, headed to the United States for a stint at Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki, and now finds himself going back across the Atlantic for another shot at a world title. With this in mind, we asked Rattray his favorite spots in the world, the best food, and the best races. You might want to find your passport and cash in those frequent flyer miles after reading…

Languages Known: One (English) “In a lot of places now days the young people speak English, but in France they don’t speak a word of it. It is hard to order a meal and you never know what to expect, but you know what a chicken is. If you look at the menu, you can explain in some sign language [laughs].” Top-Five Spots “I would still like to go and see the Maldives and places like that, but so far this is my top-five. Seeing different places and cultures is incredible.”

1. Switzerland – “It is a very special place going there. Driving through you see all of the mountains and all of the lakes. It is really one of the most beautiful countries.”

2. Cape Town, South Africa – “It is a rally cool place to go to and obviously it is my home country. It is easy for me to go there when I go back home and it is an easy flight. It is a beautiful place.”

3. Italy - “I like somewhere down by Rome, where it is old-school and from back in the centuries. It was really a special place for me to go and see all of the walls and old buildings. It is pretty amazing.”

4. Monaco – “It is pretty incredible to see how much money is down there with all of the yachts and to know how much it costs to have an apartment there. It is pretty crazy.”

5. Hawaii - “My family and I just got back from there and it is a pretty beautiful place.” Best Food “Italy is good with the pastas and everything. You can find little restaurants that look sketchy, but you go in and it is the best food you have ever eaten. You can go to a high-end restaurant, but the little sketchy place might be better.

” Most Memorable Race “The Sheik in Qatar organized a race in Doha and called it an ‘International.’ There were like five spectators, so it wasn’t a big motocross event. But we had the best rental cars and five-course meals. ” Worst Race “We raced in Russia in 2002 and it is a pretty sketchy country. I’d go there if I have to race a Grand Prix, but it is not somewhere that I would on a holiday."
